Moth to a candle

After a busy 2008 doing quite a bit of carving to order, early 2009 finds me working on my own uncommissioned designs which are available to buy. In this case, the moth and candlestick is carved out of one piece of oak, (except for some short lengths of used guitar string). The flame is water gilded and burnished. This is a beautiful object. I love the fact that it's made from one piece of wood. It strikes me as a metaphor for our innate instinct to seek the Light, the Other.
